Big news for frequent visitors of Fleet Peeples Park (Dog Park) and the Friends of Fleet Peeples Park (FFPP), a non-profit corporation who has supported the perpetuation of Fleet Peeples Park as a Dog Friendly Off Leash Park. The dog fees are no longer in effect as of March 29, 2011. The parks department has stated that the money collected thru the $5 and $75 annual passes will be refunded, however FFPP has sent a letter out to all tag purchasers requesting that if you can, please forgive your tag purchase so that the collected funds can go back into the park for future improvements.

Fleet Peeples Dog Park - Lake
Quoted from Orlando Sentinel:
The Winter Park City Commission on Monday rescinded two controversial actions it took last year. In separate 3-2 votes, commissioners got rid of permit fees for dog owners who use the off-leash area of Fleet Peeples Park, and they decided not to move ahead with giving themselves raises of about $10,000 apiece.
The parks department will refund about $26,000 it has collected through the sale of $5 daily and $75 annual off-leash passes since late last year. About 75 percent of the annual passes were purchased by non-residents.
Who Voted Yes:
Mayor Ken Bradley and Commissioners Steve Leary and Sarah Sprinkel
Who Voted No:
Commissioners Carolyn Cooper and Tom McMacken
A second vote is still needed to make it an official action, which will occur during the next City Commission meeting on April 11, 2011.
